Goshen Mills Chapter, NSDAR, Welcomes New Members
Membership in the DAR
If you are interested in DAR, Contact Us to connect to our registrar who will ask you a few questions about your lineage and invite you to visit one of our meetings.
If you have completed research on your lineage, our registrar will work with you to go over each proof source for birth, marriage, and death, in addition to the proof of your Patriot's service, and will help you fill out the application.
If you have not completed research on your lineage DAR registrars and volunteer genealogists are available to guide you through the process and do what they can to help you find the proof you need to join.
Eligibility Details
Are you a woman over the age of 18 who has an ancestor that provided service to the cause of American independence? It could be service in the military, the government, or other patriotic or civil service, and had to have been performed between April 19, 1775, and November 26, 1783.
Here is a list of acceptable Revolutionary War services.
Application Resources
A prospective member must provide documentation that proves (1) a family connection between her and her Patriot ancestor, and (2) the Revolutionary War service of her Patriot ancestor.
You can search for an ancestor that is already registered in the NSDAR Patriot Index using our Genealogical Research Service (GRS) or check the Descendants Search in the GRS to see if you have part of your lineage in common with another member. For more information see NSDAR Become a Member.
Even if you do not find your ancestors in our database, we are here to help. Contact Us on where to begin.
